Northbrook is a village of about 35,000 residents roughly 25 miles north of Chicago, inland from the lakefront villages, with easy access to the Edens Expressway and a Metra station on the Milwaukee District North line.
The housing stock is largely post-war single-family homes on larger lots than you find closer to the lake: split-levels, ranches, and colonials from the 1950s through 1980s, many of which have been expanded or replaced with new construction.
