Lake Bluff

Small lakefront village just north of Lake Forest with a walkable town center, a public beach on the bluff, and a quieter, more understated feel than its neighbor.

Lake Bluff is a village of about 5,500 residents on the Lake Michigan bluff, roughly 30 miles north of Chicago, immediately north of Lake Forest. It has a Metra station on the Union Pacific North line and a small, walkable downtown along Scranton Avenue.

East Lake Bluff, between the tracks and the lake, is the historic core: vintage cottages and larger homes on tree-lined streets that started as a Chautauqua-era summer colony, plus estates along the bluff. West of Green Bay Road, the village extends into larger-lot subdivisions and newer construction. Prices are generally a step below Lake Forest, and the village trades on a low-key character that Lake Forest buyers sometimes come north to find.

Schools are Lake Bluff District 65 for K-8 and Lake Forest High School. Sunrise Beach, the Lake Bluff Park District, and the annual Fourth of July parade are the village institutions.

Lake Bluff inventory is small and the buyer pool is specific. Selling here means marketing to the people who already know they want Lake Bluff, and pricing so they do not hesitate. Call or text Jimmy at 312-800-1552.
